Sunday October 21, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.
St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Portland (map)

The Choral Arts Ensemble opens up its 43rd season under the direction of its new conductor, Dr. David De Lyser. "With and Without Words" will feature new and familiar choral literature that began life as well-known instrumental works. Join us as we sing Whitacre's Alleluia (originally October), Barber's Agnus Dei (Adagio for Strings), Holst's I Vow to Thee My Country (Jupiter Hymn), Sibelius' This is My Song (Finlandia), and other familiar works. We'll recreate battle sounds in Jannequin's La Guerre, and eventually do away with words completely in Chorale Without Words by Portland's own Tomas Svoboda, and with movements from Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words, featuring our accompanist Jennifer Creek Hughes
